As of yesterday (August 6th, 2010) the U.S. government stopped accepting referrals of children from Nepal to U.S. families. There is great sadness in our house and even more trepidation about our trip to Nepal. The sadness is for the families that were yet to be matched with a child. I am sure many couples will now turn away from Nepal and move toward other countries for a successful adoption. This will delay their process and delay the ability of loving couples to give a child what it deserves most in life - unconditional and unending LOVE.
Since we have a referral we are still eligible to see this process to its conclusion. We anticipate a longer stay in Nepal while an investigation of greater intensity is conducted and we are bracing ourselves for the possibility that his visa into the U.S. could be denied. A trip of excitement has turned to a trip of incredible nervousness. We ask for your prayers and good thoughts as we make a journey slightly different than first thought. We are turning things over to God and praying for the outcome we have always hoped for.
Michael and Karyn, I am praying constantly that God blesses y'all and sweet Anderson on this trip. I pray for faith and peace as you all travel such a distance to meet your child. I love you guys and will not cease my prayers for you during such a difficult time.
ReplyDeleteHope you guys made it safely over there. We'll be thinking of you often and praying for you both, the officials that make the decisions, and all the little orphans around the world. We can't wait for the updates...Love Bill, Jen, Carter and Cole.
