It is Monday evening here in Kathmandu and we are happy to see the long weekend come to end (we know most people hate to see it end). Today we took another walking trip through another portion of Kathmandu (any time we can get out of the hotel we take advantage of it). We visited another large Temple in the center of the city. Temples are generally a series of buildings that were built for Kings or Gods. This Temple was quite expansive and contained the "one tree building". Apparently a very large tree was identified, harvested, and and used to build the entire building. If you are wondering if we are running out of things to put on the blog - wonder no more - one tree building is as good as it gets today. As we mentioned in an earlier post - everyday is like Groundhog Day. On the upside, Karyn and I could survive almost any environment on Earth. We have seen every episode of Bear Grylls Man vs. Wild, Survivor man, and I should not be alive. Besides a channel dedicated to these shows we have HBO and Cinemax. Neither of these movie channels has shown a movie made after 1985. Airport 75 must be a favorite of the Nepali movie watchers as it is on almost daily.
We think we will going to the orphanage tomorrow and then just waiting for news from the Embassy. We pray it is positive and soon.
You are doing remarkably well all things considered. Many people couldn't handle the boredom, frustration, and uncertainty. Add on top of that the new food, culture and perils of foreign travel - correction - you are doing extremely well in a very challenging situation. It bugs me to think that the American exports people around the world are most familiar with are McDonalds and TV on the level of Airport 75.
ReplyDeleteOh the memories you are making! You'll never forget Airport 75! Glad y'all were able to get out of the hotel yesterday and visit the temple. Thankfully tomorrow when you wake up the long weekend will be over and the embassy will be working on your case!! I am praying for a major answered prayer later this week or early next week (of course, the sooner the better!). Love y'all and hope you can get some sleep tonight. Until tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteOur hearts are so glad that you are continuing to find humor and interest in all that is around you. Groundhog Day is one of Dad's favorite movies, however I don't think we will ever watch it in the same way...you will be what comes to mind. Its funny how movies take on particular significance in our lives. For me, Rambo will always remind me of pizza, nose-cracking, and two handsome guys!
ReplyDeleteWe continue to pray for all of you, even as we breathe. We love you!!!!!!
We watched the move Kick Ass last night and it really is a good movie. If you get to see that one, don't miss it. We love you and miss you very much and cannot wait for this week for you. Hang in there and every time we watch a "survivor" show, we will think of you. Hey, I think Michael and Bill should try out for Man Vs Wild. They are asking for contestants.
